Digital transformation often fails when it is treated as a technology project rather than an organisational leadership challenge. New systems alone do not transform performance. Leaders must change how people work, how decisions are made and how value is delivered.
The real questions are strategic. What problem is technology solving? Which operating model needs to change? What capabilities are required? How will adoption be led? How will value be measured?
Digital transformation requires alignment across strategy, data, processes, culture, governance and customer or citizen experience. It also requires leaders to manage resistance, capability gaps and implementation fatigue.
Technology is an enabler, not the transformation itself. Senior leaders must own the agenda, connect it to organisational priorities and build the discipline to move from pilots to enterprise-level impact.
